The Non Governmental Organization Case

The NGO - Case

CASE L

Food For Anybody an NGO organization on the border with war torn Urgadio frequently sends it staff for training in Nairobi for training seminars. It takes 3 days to travel to Nairobi and sometimes may take up to a week to obtain space on one of the 3 military flights back to the area. There is a great thirst for training and most staff look forward to the training programs which also offer them a break from the service contract requirement to remain on duty for six months at a time. However, the impact of these training programs has not been felt on the ground and the NGO management council is wondering whether this is the best use of donor funds.

The council has given an ultimatum to the training coordinator to show training impact or have the entire function dissolved at the end of the year. The training coordinator, determined to keep his job has been given authority to implement a Training follow through strategy to facilitate actualization of learning by returning trainees within the company.

(1)    Help him draw up this strategy

(2)    Detail any other precautions he must take before sending any body to Nairobi for training.
