THIS GENERATION
I write to a unique generation, a nation whose existence fulfils the dreams and hope of another generation. In the early years, we are busy growing up. In our twenties, we got a first class education and an introduction to the working world. Then dawns the reality of the thirties where we start families and develop careers. We work hard to get ahead and make a name for ourselves. We enjoy the power of income and careers. As we draw near to our forties, strange things happen, our age mates lose jobs. Economic power begins to wane. We lose our grip on the freedoms we have always known.
The thirties and forties pass quickly. They are our most engaging years. We still have the strength to endure and so we do not worry. At forty, others depend on us. The fifties come suddenly and find us without the strength to begin again. At sixty, there is no time to hand over to the next generation; they have no time to begin. Men and women of freedom here is what we must do; fear God, create wealth and set up enterprise. Then we might have something to pass on. Every generation is unique, but for most, 60 to 80 is just a song.
