THE SPIRIT MAKES THE HOME RUN
When there is more journey than road ahead,
When you swim the ocean to face a mountain,
When going forward and going back is all the same,
When your body is beaten, broken, bleeding and burning in pain,
When you have no strength to cry and know that is no use to try,
When your hands, head and heart tell you that to give up is best,
When you have done everything a man and woman can do, and still failed the test,
When all the rest say, we did our best,
When everyone is gone, the jobs not done, and
All you want to do is go home;
When your tears are no longer about sorrow,
And it is foolish to hope for tomorrow,
Then, and only then, does the spirit make the home run!
