PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Many people believe their personality cannot be changed. This robs them of the basic human ability to improve themselves. It is easy to see the need to grow in mind and body. But, few people see the need to improve a personality. Yet, all great people know the power of a mature person. Socrates and other great thinkers advise us to, "Know thyself". When you know yourself, you can grow yourself. Nowhere else is your personality of more value than in your relations with others,
How many people do you know who have a terrible attitude, cruel anger and keep temper tantrums of a four year old in the office. How many people have you heard say; that is just me and I can't do anything about it - that is just who I am. Some would rather remain selfish than become selfless. As you listen to these self-sufferers, it is little wonder that some of them are the most unhappy people around you, or to be around.
The key to personal growth is in the last paragraph. It is in understanding yourself and developing what will work for you in your relationships with other people. You can tame your anger by fasting. You can change your attitude by choice. You can make friends by learning to listen. You can become a team player by playing like a team player. You can perform better in your work by working smarter. Your personality is not a fixed asset. It can change, but only you can change it. Whether your name is Mandela or Mother Teresa, personality is the key to greatness. If you develop your personality, you will become the greatest you there could ever be.
